CJC 1295 is a synthetic analog of growth hormone releasing hormone, or GHRH. Human research on the long acting CJC 1295 form has shown that it can increase circulating growth hormone and IGF 1 levels. Importantly, those studies measured hormone levels, not outcomes such as increased muscle, fat loss, or improved athletic performance. Ipamorelin is a growth hormone secretagogue that acts through the ghrelin receptor pathway. The rationale for combining it with CJC 1295 is that the two compounds stimulate different parts of the growth hormone axis.
