FAQ
GLP-1s are groundbreaking medications that have shown remarkable results in clinical studies. GLP-1 medications help regulate and improve the body’s weight loss factors – such as blood sugar response and insulin. By changing these factors, the gut will send signals to the brain to improve metabolic function and regulate digestion and appetite, helping patients feel fuller, longer. In studies, patients lost on average, 15% of their body weight with GLP-1s. Some lose more, so lose less dependent on the individual.
GLP-1s are the most effective approach to sustained weight loss when combined with lifestyle changes.
GLP-1s are taken via a subcutaneous injection. Subcutaneous means an area under the skin where the fat is rather than the muscle. These injections are typically painless, quick and easy due to the ultra-fine needle. GLP-1s are self-administered either daily or weekly depending on the medication.
Most individuals on a GLP-1 experience minimal side effects. The most common side effects are nausea and constipation, and typically resolves after a few weeks of being on the medication. If you do experience any side effects, you will be able to reach out to your provider directly for support.
